Anna Cojocari

Tattoo Artist

I was born into the end of the Soviet reality in Chisinau, Moldova, raised in a family of artists that never had the chance to be artists. My mother, my cousins, and my grandparents all drew and sculpted beautifully. But artists “die of hunger,” I was often told as a little girl. Luckily, my mother—the artist forced to become an accountant by her mother—did not agree. My parents worked long hours at difficult jobs to pay for my studies and all of the incredibly expensive art supplies that I needed. They sacrificed so much to give me a chance at the career my mother never had but always dreamed of: a working artist.

I studied Fine Art and Architecture at the University of Moldova, and I bring the strength of formal artistic training to my style, which I describe as detailed and crisp in execution, but not limited to any particular style. For me, tattoos are deeply meaningful–they bring life to memory through art.
